Until the early 1950s, fishermen had their homes and storage facilities along the staircase that connected the landing area to the village: this staircase was the only means of communication between the two locations. This highly functional system for their work underwent a radical change in 1958 when, to support the emerging tourism sector that was beginning to develop, the need arose to build an accessible road leading to the first tourist facility located before the village.<\/p>\n
To construct this road, demolitions of houses and warehouses along the route were required, leading to expropriations that were not compensated with money but rather with the construction of new homes in the Mezzaluna area.
