Description
The Ustica Island Study and Documentation Center is a non-profit organization established in 1997, founded on cultural volunteer initiatives. Its primary goal is to promote activities and initiatives focused on the island of Ustica, aiming to foster knowledge and recovery of the island’s cultural heritage.
Among its main objectives, the association is committed to collecting documents, texts, and materials concerning Ustica, overseeing their reprinting, and promoting research and study activities on the territory. It aims to disseminate research results through publications and multimedia materials. Additionally, it dedicates itself to organizing cultural events designed to deepen and spread knowledge of the island’s cultural and natural heritage, encouraging its enhancement and public access. The association also promotes exchanges and collaborations with similar institutions, associations, and anthropological entities, as well as fostering interactions with other isolated communities.
Among the association’s founders are Vito Ailara, Mariella Barraco, Giulio Calderaro, Massimo Caserta, Franco Foresta Martin, Felice Longo, Nicola Longo, and Giacomo Pignatone.
